iciHaiti - UN : Despite the insecurity, the IOM continues to provide assistance to migrants

The International Organization for Migration (IOM - Haiti) is committed to remaining in Haiti, to support the population struggling with insecurity and uncertainty and to provide vital assistance to migrants repatriated from the Dominican Republic, who facing serious protection risks.

With the collaboration of local leaders, authorities and national organizations, IOM was able to provide emergency assistance to vulnerable migrants with specific needs stranded at the border.

Even with numerous movement problems due to road blockages which have seriously affected the work of the UN Organization, it continues to organize emergency transport from the border to Port-au-Prince and to provide humanitarian and health care for migrants.

IOM also supported national Hurricane Fiona preparedness efforts, including pre-positioning emergency stocks across the country and anticipating the activation of national response coordination mechanisms in case of needs.
