iciHaiti - Crisis : Update on the situation of drinking water in Haiti
In a note Guito Edouard Director General of DINEPA informs the population in general (urban, peri-urban and rural areas) and regular subscribers of the public drinking water service in particular, that because of the degradation of the security environment of the country, social unrest and fuel shortages, it is becoming difficult to guarantee the continuity of the drinking water distribution service from the pumping stations throughout the national territory.

However, other drinking water supply systems (SAEP), operating either by gravity (without the need for diesel fuel) or via photovoltaic stations (solar), continue to serve the cities and communities (peri-urban and rural) concerned as usual in the 10 departments of the country.

DINEPA and its four Regional Drinking Water and Sanitation Offices (OREPA: West, North, South and Center) are working hard to restore drinking water distribution schedules throughout the country, in particular by the resumption of service from the dozens of generators that supply the distribution sites. DINEPA and OREPA apologize to the public and their loyal subscribers for the inconvenience caused.

Edouard Directeur also takes this opportunity to thank the Donors and/or Technical and Financial Partners for their sustained collaboration in the Drinking Water and Sanitation Sector.
