On the night of January 13 to 14, 2023, around midnight, the Gonaïves Police Station Intervention Brigade and the Artibonite Departmental Unit for Maintaining Order (UDMO) jointly carried out an operation in Trou Sable (suburb of the municipality of Gonaïves), territory of the "Bwa kale" gang where 8 members of the gang were neutralized.

4 of the 8 bandits were mortally wounded in exchanges of fire with the police and 4 others were arrested : Derice Jocelyn, Joseph jimmy, Noel Ritchie and Dieujuste victor.

Several other bandits managed to flee with their weapons. Two firearms, a vehicle and a motorcycle were seized.

The Departmental Directorate reminds young people who get bogged down in crime that this path leads directly to the crossroads of the "3 Ms" (Mare - Mawon - Mouri) and advises them to embrace other legal activities that are consistent with social norms.
