iciHaiti - Fuel : 1.6 billion Gourdes subsidy for 100,000 transporters

Ricardin St-Jean, the Minister of Trade and Industry, announced, with much delay, the granting of a targeted subsidy following the rise in fuel prices. He explained that forms have been distributed to nearly 2,000 small entrepreneurs and more than 100,000 carriers nationwide.

A fuel card will be given to the beneficiary drivers who will benefit from a subsidy of 15,000 gourdes.

This program for which the Government has provisioned 1.6 billion, will be spread over 6 months and all comunes will be concerned.

For small entrepreneurs, the Minister St-Jean indicated that the subsidy will be higher. Small beneficiary entrepreneurs will have to prove that they have been in operation for at least one year and hold the required documents and the patent of the public administration. The duration of this program is 6 months and the Government has provided 375 million gourdes for this purpose.
