iciHaiti - Canada : Meeting with Haitian students from the Ottawa and Gatineau region
The Embassy of Haiti in Canada organized a meeting with students of Haitian origin from the Ottawa and Gatineau region on February 8.
It was a pleasant moment of exchanges between the students and the staff of the Mission on various subjects, including the difficulties encountered in their integration into Canada, the granting of scholarships, the improvement of consular service in particular to students. The state of diplomatic relations between Haiti and Canada was also discussed.
Ambassador Weibert Arthus shared his own experience as a former foreign student with his compatriots to encourage them to show determination as international students in order to complete their studies with pride and distinction. He encouraged them to do their research on Haiti, even though access to data can be difficult. In this sense, the embassy makes its library available to them and the staff is willing to help them establish contacts with resource people on the ground. Above all, he reminded them that the future of the country is in their hands.
