iciHaiti - Carrefour : Médecin Sans Frontière opened a new hospital
This week, Médecin Sans Frontière (MSF), which worked for more than a year to transform a textile factory into a real hospital, opened a new 25-bed surgical center "Sant MSF pou Blese" located at Thor 65, Rue Souchet, Commune from Carrefour.

"We know that there is a great need for this type of medical help and we are very happy to now be able to offer this free, quality care to Carrefour," explains Jean-Baptiste Goasglas, the MSF coordinator of this project in Haiti.

In its new Carrefour hospital, MSF will treat the seriously injured : victims mostly of road accidents, but also of serious falls, serious domestic accidents, and victims of violence, if they present themselves within 48 hours following the accident or violence.

"We treat everyone, based on medical needs based on our admission criteria, and regardless of the person’s background," declares Jean-Marc Biquet, MSF head of mission in Haiti.

MSF is already planning to increase the number of beds in a future stage.

"To be able to work at Carrefour, as in all its other structures in Haiti and in any other country, MSF insists on respect and safety for its patients, its staff, its facilities and its ambulances by all stakeholders. This is the only way for us to offer our medical care to the population of Carrefour," recalls MSF.
