Monday April 8, 2024, after a relatively calm Sunday, violent clashes between the police and heavily armed bandits resumed and sowed panic in the Champ-de-Mars and surrounding neighborhoods.

Agents from the Temporary Anti-Gang Unit (UTAG) were seen repelling the assault of bandits, particularly on Street Lamarre.

At the beginning of the afternoon, bursts of automatic weapons were reported at Delmas 19, 30, 31, 32, 33 at the airport crossroads, Nazon, Marassa and Duval (commune Croix-des-Bouquets). Intense automatic weapons fire was reported in the commune of Tabarre, particularly in Tabarre 27,

Barricades were erected by armed bandits in Lilavois. The RN#1 road, near Croix-des-Missions, is still closed to traffic.
