After having written a lot about Jérémie, his hometown, Eddy Cavé has recently converted to the history of Haiti to devote most of his time to this subject. During discussions, Eddy Cavé showed how the first years of our independence were marked by terrible violence between us, where many founding fathers were assassinated. In addition, important historical figures have been eclipsed in many stories about Haiti, and this has been done on purpose. This mark of exclusion, he deplored, even appears in the text of the act of independence when it is indicated "this land which saw us born". For Eddy Cavé these are comments which sidelined the Africans (who were called the bossales) who fought alongside the native Haitians (who were called the Creoles). The Ambassador of Haiti Weibert Arthus took the opportunity to congratulate and thank Eddy Cavé for this masterful work and for his contribution to Haitian heritage, by awarding him a certificate of honor and merit on behalf of the Embassy of Haiti. Since 2006, he has been waging a fight on three fronts: the preservation of memory, the promotion of clear and simple language and the improvement of the quality of Haitian books. Extermination and exclusion. Two key words designating two serious problems that the resounding victory of the barefoot Indigenous Army over Napoleon's prestigious troops tends to obscure in the history of Haiti. When the Founding Fathers signed the Act of Independence in 1804, the country was trapped in a heavy colonial past that it still carries today. It enters the concert of nations in a climate of hostility of the great powers, of palace intrigues, of coalitions of economic interests, of class alliances, of regions. And also exclusionary practices based on place of birth, gender, religion, skin color, level of education, language spoken.
