iciHaiti - Diaspora : The 275th of Port-au-Prince, celebrated in Paris
The Embassy of Haiti in Paris informs that on the occasion of the commemoration of the 275 years of the founding of the city of Port-au-Prince in 1749, it organized on June 13, 2024, a large conference followed by an opening dedicated to the International Exhibition which was held in Port-au-Prince under the presidency of Dumarsais ESTIMÉ in 1949.

Leading personalities from the political, diplomatic world and Haitian civil society took part in the event and the evening was punctuated by the presence and speeches of the Presidential Advisor Frinel JOSEPH, the Secretary General of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE) Dimitri KERKENTZES, as well as pre-recorded messages from other members of the Transitional Presidential Council. Diplomats from friendly countries, such as Japan, supported the conference by presenting their organizational experiences in the field of World Expos.

The Embassy specifies that this initiative is part of the promotion of the "Haiti-Emergence 2049" project which aims to organize in the year 2049, a new edition of the Universal Exhibition in the Capital of Haiti.

In his remarks for the occasion, the Ambassador of Haiti to France, Jean Josué Dahomey Pierre, greeted with the greatest patriotic fervor, the highest authorities of the Haitian State, the Government led by Prime Minister Dr. Garry Conille, as well as the Presidential Council whose members, despite a tight schedule in a particular context, took the time to communicate pre-recorded videos, with a view to showing their support for this great project which aims to unite all Haitians.

Finally, the Embassy informs the public that the presentation of photos and images of the 1949 Exhibition currently on the walls of the Diplomatic Mission will continue until November 2024 and can be visited, by appointment, during office days and hours. Interested persons are invited to contact the Embassy by telephone 01 47 63 47 78 or by email amb.france@diplomatie.ht.
