Niola Devalis Octavius, the Minister of Youth and Sports paid a vibrant tribute to Serge Ducoste during a national funeral which took place on Saturday July 20 at the St. Pierre church in Pétion-ville in the presence of the President of the Council of transition, several ministers and other dignitaries.

An exemplary sportsman, dedicated trainer, national pride, Serge Ducoste dedicated his sporting life to football, to youth and to the entire Nation.

The excellent Haitian central defender who remained faithful to his favorite club Aigle Noir, participated in the 1974 World Cup and made our dear Haiti proud on many occasions. After hanging up his crampons, he became a trainer in order to share his knowledge and his immense experience with young people.

"My experience as a former manager of the Aigle Noir allowed me to observe this great servant who participated in the initiation, training and development of several generations of football players. I had the privilege of discovering his passion for the game, his commitment to the recovery of his community, his determination to serve young people and his country," said Minister Octavius.

She remains convinced that admirers of the Green and Black and the national team will not soon forget the brilliant performances of the illustrious central defender, who marked the history of a club to which he remained faithful throughout his career. "This legendary loyalty and the sacrifices made to help write beautiful pages in the history of the Bel Air club illustrate its commitment to serving its neighborhood and promoting its environment."

Minister Octavius ​​spoke with pride of Serge Ducoste's collaboration with the Ministry in favor of the training and supervision of young people with a view to ensuring succession "He devoted himself to the youth of his community to preserve the the future of our sport and the country against all forms of abuse. For him, despite the difficulties, it was crucial to discover new talents and direct young people towards the practice of sport, particularly football, essential for their fulfillment and integral development."
