The Haitian National Police (PNH) provides some clarification regarding the attack by armed individuals, traveling on a motorcycle, against a school in the commune of Estère (Dept. Artibonite) earlier this week.

According to the information available to the National Police, the individuals did not have time to enter the school grounds. However, they opened fire on the building.

A 3-year-old child and a citizen known as Michelet were hit by bullets from the bandits who were shooting in all directions. The victims were rushed to a hospital to receive the care their case requires.

During surgery, Michelet, as he was known, unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Once informed of the incident, instructions were quickly given by the High Command of the PNH to the Jurisdiction Officials to take appropriate measures to restore order, while reinforcing the presence of police officers on strategic roads and intensifying patrols in the vicinity of schools in this area.
