iciHaiti - Diplomacy : Haiti ready to dialogue with the Dominican Republic
The new Haitian Chancellor Jean-Victor Harvel Jean-Baptiste met with the Dominican Ambassador to Haiti, Faruk Miguel Castillo. A constructive exchange focused on common issues to strengthen ties between the two nations

In addition, the Minister of the Dominican Presidency expressed the willingness of the Dominican Government to dialogue with the Haitian authorities, in response to the call of the new Haitian Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé.

This was stated from the border by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, who, together with the Minister of Defense, Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, was touring from Pedernales to Dajabón as part of the Dominican Government's efforts to guarantee border control and address the challenges of bilateral relations with Haiti.

Paliza stressed that, although it is up to Dominican Chancellor Roberto Álvarez to give an official response on the management of this issue, he considers that dialogue is the most appropriate way to promote greater harmony between the two countries.

For his part, the Minister of Defense assured that the deportations and repatriations of Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory situation will continue, for the benefit of Dominican sovereignty.
