On Thursday, February 20, 2025, a jury in Miami convicted American Michael Geilenfeld (73), founder of a Haitian orphanage, of sexually abusing boys at his facility in Port-au-Prince.

The trial included testimony from six Haitian men who said they were abused while living at Geilenfeld’s "St. Joseph’s Home for Boys" between 2005 and 2010. The boys, now in their 20s, were between the ages of 9 and 13 at the time.

Court records show that Michael Geilenfeld was convicted Thursday night of six counts of unlawful sexual contact with minors in a foreign country and one count of traveling from Miami to Haiti for that unlawful purpose.

Geilenfeld is scheduled to be sentenced on May 5, 2025, before U.S. District Judge David Leibowitz and faces a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine his sentence after considering U.S. law.

Should be notes that the allegations of abuse against Geilenfeld in Haiti remain unresolved, due to a dysfunctional justice system...
