iciHaiti - Dominican Republic : 12,964 Haitians were returned to their country in 15 days
The Dominican Republic returned 12,964 Haitians in an irregular migration situation to Haiti during the first half of March 2025, revealed the General Directorate of Immigration.

Haitians were arrested in 124 operations and processed in detention centers in Haina, Santiago de los Caballeros, and Dajabón.

The migration control operations were carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Defense, the Dominican Army, the "Ciudad Tranquila" task force, and other government entities.

The DGM indicated that it was also strengthening controls at ports and airports to prevent the irregular entry and exit of foreigners.

Furthermore, the DGM reported that during this period, 12 people (8 Dominicans and 4 Haitians) were arrested and brought to justice. They are accused of migrant smuggling, falsification of documents, rebellion against authority, destruction of state property, fraud, theft, and corruption.

These individuals appeared before the courts in Pedernales, Independencia, Bahoruco, Independencia, Jimaní, Santo Domingo Este, and the National District.

The DGM reports that the individuals involved were subjected to coercive measures, ranging from pretrial detention, release on bail, and financial guarantees, to being banned from leaving the country.
