Patrick Delatour, Minister of Culture and Communication, was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Didier Dominique, who died of pancreatic cancer on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at the age of 73.

Trained as an architect, Didier Dominique was a professor of urban sociology at the State University of Haiti (UEH), where he influenced several generations of students. He was also recognized for his union involvement as a leader of the organization "Batay Ouvriye," which advocates for workers' rights in Haiti.

Professor Dominique was a Researcher at the National Heritage Preservation Institute (ISPAN), where he made significant contributions to the preservation, promotion, and understanding of Haitian heritage in its deepest dimensions. His rigorous work, at the intersection of research, action, and activism, has helped to raise awareness of the country's historical, architectural, social, and spiritual realities.

Throughout his career, Professor Dominique distinguished himself through the depth of his analyses, his unwavering commitment to the values ​​of social justice, and his ability to foster dialogue between culture, history, and popular struggles. His contribution to reflection on the major issues facing our society will remain a source of inspiration for present and future generations.
