iciHaiti - Obituary : Note of sympathy to the families of the police officers killed in Liancourt

The Haitian National Police (PNH) condemns in the strongest terms the act perpetrated by armed bandits that claimed the lives of three police officers in the commune of Liancourt, Artibonite department, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, who were ambushed. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-45398-haiti-news-zapping.html

Four police officers from the Departmental Law Enforcement Unit (UDMO) were patrolling near the police station in an armored vehicle. The armored vehicle fell into a ditch and was then set on fire by the bandits. Unfortunately, three police officers were killed in this attack (Jean Louis Daniel, Dareus Daniel, and Fegensly Mertus), and one is missing. In addition, an informant was also killed.

Rameau Normil, the Acting Commander-in-Chief of the PNH, issued firm instructions to the police jurisdictional leaders to intensify operations against armed gangs in the Artibonite department, driving them to their last strongholds.

"In these painful circumstances, the PNH extends its condolences to the family members of the slain police officers, to their colleagues, and to all those affected by the death of these valiant fighters.

The PNH wishes to reiterate that the blood of these valiant police officers shed in the line of duty must be a source of motivation for their comrades in arms, strengthen esprit de corps, and work tirelessly to continue the fight against gangs throughout the national territory, in order to put a definitive end to the barbarity of all armed groups."
