iciHaiti - Social : Haiti's capital has been without electricity from Péligre for 45 days
Electricité d'Haïti (EDH), which had promised to restore electricity to the capital, is still unable to provide "acceptable" service, having been deprived of hydroelectric power from the Péligre dam since June 17, 2025.

It should be recalled that on June 17, residents of Mirebalais forced the shutdown of the Péligre power plant for the second time, demanding that the government strengthen security to end the terror and gang occupation in the region. Unidentified residents had sabotaged five pylons of the high-voltage line supplying power to the metropolitan area and the capital.

According to a statement from EDH's general directorate, repairing the damage caused by the sabotage requires extensive repairs and a large-scale logistical effort to find appropriate solutions and alternatives. EDH calls on its subscribers to remain calm and promises to work tirelessly to ensure a return to normal electricity supply as soon as possible.

These sabotages forced EDH to restart its thermal power plants in the middle of the rainy season, which is very expensive and only allows certain neighborhoods to be supplied with electricity for a few hours, until the situation returns to normal, which still seems quite far off...
