iciHaiti - Energy : Massive solar infrastructure at the Caracol Industrial Park 23/03/2026 09:35:25
As part of his tour from South to North, Joseph Almathe Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, conducted a follow-up visit to the Caracol Industrial Park (PIC). Accompanied by the Directors General of the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) and the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANARSE), as well as park officials, Minister Pierre Louis inspected the massive new solar infrastructure that is currently redefining the region's energy future. True to the promise made in his inaugural address to "modernize basic public services," the Minister is making the PIC's energy independence a driver of immediate growth. The project (Contract No. AOI-CT-AMACEH-006), carried out by Sangyong Engineering & Construction, represents a major technological turning point for Haiti. It is based on the design, construction, and operation of a hybrid photovoltaic system with storage, which is now integrated into the existing thermal power plant and the Caracol electrical grid. The installation has a total solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity of 13.4 MW, divided into two units of 4 MW and 9.4 MW, and utilizes more than 21,270 630W solar modules. This power is supported by a 10 MWh battery storage system that stabilizes the grid while providing energy after sunset, all managed by an intelligent control system. https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46735-haiti-caracol-the-country-s-largest-photovoltaic-solar-power-plant.html This supervisory visit, conducted under the technical expertise of ANARSE, confirms that the Ministry of Public Works is no longer content with simply managing existing infrastructure, but is actively building the resilient infrastructure promised by the Government.
