Education Sector Table in Northeast

The Northeast Departmental Directorate of Education organized a sectoral education roundtable this week in collaboration with PLAN International. This event brought together a multitude of key stakeholders in the education sector, demonstrating the collective importance placed on improving education in the region.

The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere, conducive to exchanges and constructive discussions. Participants included civil society organizations, as well as technical and financial partners. Unions, representatives from the university sector, directors of public and private schools, and high school students were also present, each contributing their unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing the education system.

Luckner Mompremier, the Northeast Departmental Director of Education, opened the session by emphasizing the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to improve access to quality education. He also provided an opportunity to give a brief overview of current and upcoming activities. He highlighted the progress made so far, while emphasizing the persistent challenges, particularly regarding infrastructure, teacher training, and educational resources.

The discussions were rich and varied, addressing crucial topics such as the inclusion of disadvantaged students, gender equality in education, and the importance of citizenship education and access to quality education for all children, especially girls.

Representatives of civil society organizations advocated for greater transparency and increased commitment from local authorities, while technical and financial partners proposed innovative solutions to overcome the identified challenges.

This meeting strengthened ties between the various stakeholders in the education sector and laid the groundwork for closer collaboration. The next steps will involve implementing the recommendations made and monitoring the progress of actions undertaken to ensure quality education for all.
