Towards the creation of 8 university incubators in Haiti 09/04/2026 10:10:28
The Support for Entrepreneurial Innovation and University Startups (AIESU) program aligns with Prime Minister Fils-Aimé's vision and is implemented by James Monazard, the Minister of Commerce and Industry (MCI). At the end of March, the Ministry conducted visits to several universities, including André Laroche University, Quisqueya University, and IHECE. Led by coordinator Freud Miguel Renaty, these missions aimed to assess the institutions' capacity to host incubators and actively contribute to national economic development. AIESU plans to create 8 university incubators and support approximately 80 startups, backed by a total budget of 500 million gourdes. It combines direct funding for project leaders with skills development through training in management, innovation, marketing, and leadership. Partner institutions will have to meet specific criteria, particularly regarding infrastructure and collaboration with the private sector. Through this initiative, the Government intends to make universities true drivers of growth and encourage the emergence of a new generation of entrepreneurs capable of sustainably supporting Haiti's economic recovery.
