Acceleration of dredging and sanitation work in Cap-Haitien

The Cap-Haitien Municipal Administration informs all citizens that it has heard the public's demands and understands the concern and frustration expressed in recent days following the severe flooding. In collaboration with the Government, it has already mobilized several companies to provide rapid responses on the ground. These operations will be carried out in close cooperation with the community. They will be done for you and with you.

The Ministry of Public Works, Transportation and Communications (MTPTC), the Ministry of the Environment, and the Ministry of the Interior and Territorial Communities are fully mobilized on the ground.

This institutional synergy aims to mitigate the impacts of the severe weather and respond effectively to the emergency in the North Department.

A significant amount of equipment continues to be deployed, including heavy machinery, dredging equipment, and specialized technical teams, demonstrating the authorities' commitment to intervening quickly, efficiently, and responsibly.

The assessment visit of engineer Pierre Louis, Minister of Public Works, on April 30, 2026, marked a decisive step in strengthening operations (https://www.icihaiti.com/en/news-47418-cap-hatien-interministerial-emergency-mission.html). By visiting several affected areas, speaking directly with residents, and assessing the extent of the damage, the Minister gave clear instructions aimed at accelerating the pace of work and intensifying the resources deployed.

This operational momentum relies on close coordination between central authorities, decentralized services, and local communities.

The Ministry of Public Works reaffirms its commitment to maintaining this level of engagement in the coming days in order to sustainably reduce the risk of flooding in the city of Cap-Haitien.

The Municipal Administration asks all citizens to remain calm, avoid any acts of violence, and facilitate the work of the teams in the field.
