23.3% increase in Dominican Republic exports to Haiti (first 4 months of 2026)

According to the report on trade between the Dominican Republic and Haiti, prepared by the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), despite the political, economic, and security crisis in Haiti, trade with the Dominican Republic remains dynamic, particularly with regard to local exports.

According to DGA data, the value of Dominican exports to Haiti reached US$442.7 million during the first four months of the year, representing a 23.3% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

The report specifies that exports under the national customs regime increased by 36.3% between January and April of this year, while those from free trade zones decreased by 24.12%. In terms of market share, 75.7% of exports fall under the national regime; 15.4% under free trade zones; 5.18% under temporary admission; and the remaining 3.6% under the re-export regime.

The report specifies that, for the period January-April 2026, 56.1% of exports to Haiti under the national regime are concentrated on 10 products, including forged, rolled, or extruded iron or non-alloy steel bars (14.54%), hydraulic cements, including colored cements (10.74%), and wheat or mixed grain flour (5.52%).

Furthermore, the report indicates that total imports from Haiti for the period January-April 2026 amounted to US$0.11 million, a decrease of 97.01% compared to the same period in 2025. The report details these imports from Haiti, which are concentrated on five products: undenatured ethyl alcohol with an alcoholic strength by volume of less than 80%. (61.8%), knitted T-shirts and undershirts (12.6%), and textile rags, ropes, and cordage (9.3%).
