Diplomacy : New Apostolic Nuncio accredited to Haiti 28/05/2026 09:22:10
On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, during a ceremony held at the Villa d’Accueil, Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, accompanied by Foreign Minister Raina Forbin and the Secretary General of the Presidency, Marie Élisabeth Régine Joseph Haddad, received the credentials of Nigerian Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo, the new Apostolic Nuncio to Haiti, representing the Holy See to the Haitian State. This ceremony marks his official assumption of duties as the Vatican’s diplomatic representative. The Prime Minister welcomed the representative of the Holy See, stating, "[...] In this crucial period for our Nation, the moral authority of the Church remains an important guide for promoting hope, social cohesion, and respect for human dignity. I wish Archbishop Okolo every success in his mission to foster fraternal relations between the Holy See and the Haitian people." For his part, Archbishop Jude Thaddeus Okolo expressed his satisfaction at representing the Holy See in Haiti.
