Haiti's State Exam : Tasting Session at the Family Education Center

On Thursday, July 2nd, 2026, the Family Education Center (CEF) of Ouanaminthe and D’osmond organized a tasting session showcasing the culinary talents of its students as part of the closing ceremony for the practical exams for the State Exams.

This event attracted the attention of the jury members, who evaluated Haitian regional specialties, innovative vegetarian dishes, and refined desserts. This session served as the final practical exam following a vocational training program focused on home economics, nutrition, and family economics.

The students made a point of using local ingredients to promote sustainable and responsible cooking.

Learn more about CEFs : Family Education Centers (CEFs) in Haiti offer a 3-year vocational training program focused on home economics and crafts. The training programs offered are primarily geared towards the rapid economic integration of young people and adults through the following disciplines:

Food and Catering Professions :

Cooking : Learning culinary techniques, preparing local and international dishes;

Pastry : Making cakes, traditional desserts, and baked goods;

Nutrition and Hygiene : Managing and improving basic nutritional and hygiene practices.

Textile and Fashion Professions :

Sewing : Designing, cutting, and making clothes;

Embroidery : Fabric decoration techniques and fine needlework.

Crafts and Decoration :

Floral Art : Creating floral arrangements and decorations for various events;

Arts and Crafts : Creation of utilitarian and decorative objects from local materials.

Economics and Home Management :

Family Finance Management : Learning household budgeting, home organization, and basic accounting for micro-enterprises.
