Haiti under Saharan dust and the influence of an anticyclone 12/07/2026 09:27:08
Until July 13, an anticyclonic system from the Atlantic and Saharan dust will continue to bring dry and hazy weather over Haiti. Temperatures will remain hot, and the risk of rainfall will remain very low. Due to the persistent intense heat associated with high temperatures and humidity, the Hydrometeorological Unit (UHM) of Haiti, in consultation with the relevant authorities, is urging the population to be extra vigilant against the effects of the heat and Saharan dust haze and advises them to : Precautions : • Drink water regularly, even if you don't feel thirsty, to avoid dehydration; • Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.; • Wear light, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing; • Reduce strenuous physical activity during the hottest hours of the day; • Keep a close eye on children, the elderly, and those with chronic illnesses; • Wear a mask or cover your nose and mouth when outdoors to limit the inhalation of Saharan dust particles. This Sunday, July 12 : Still dry weather under the influence of Saharan dust and the Atlantic anticyclone. Forecast for Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas : • Hot, hazy, and gusty winds with partly cloudy skies during the day and evening; • Expected high: 36°C & Expected low: 22°C; • A few isolated showers are possible in the evening, particularly in higher elevations.
