DINEPA West : Immersion tour for about sixty trainees

As part of the Capacity Building Program in the Drinking Water and Sanitation Sector (EPA), the Regional Office for Drinking Water and Sanitation (OREPA West) and the Port-au-Prince Metropolitan Area Technical Operations Center (CTE-RMPP) conducted a field mission in the West region on Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10.

This initiative, led by the DINEPA General Directorate, benefited approximately sixty trainees from the region, providing these young men and women with a valuable immersion experience related to their potential future as civil servants.

The mission was conducted in the company of Eng. Théophil Ostinvil, Director General of DINEPA, Eng. Karl-Eddy Thelusma, Director of OREPA West, and Eng. Emmanuel Molière, Director of the CTE-RMPP, along with executives from DINEPA, OREPA-West, and CTE-RMPP, as well as representatives from the companies and NGOs involved in the program, oversaw the smooth running of the event.

The new trainees were introduced to numerous water sites, including Vivy Michel, Puits-Blain, Caradeux, and the CTE-RMPP itself (the water quality control laboratory and the warehouse where hydraulic components, equipment, and other technical materials are stored).

This immersion tour for the trainees from the West region constitutes the third phase of the program; the first two phases took place in May 2026.

It should be noted that the next training sessions will be held in Cap-Haitien for the OREPA-Nord and Centre trainees between July 15 and 16, and in Les Cayes for the OREPA-South trainees between July 16 and 18.

Théophil Ostinvil took the opportunity to speak, specifying, among other things, that similar activities are being carried out for the benefit of trainees from the other OREPA (North, Central, and South regions); some of the highest-performing trainees, based on the institution's needs, have already been identified for hiring; and the companies and NGOs supporting DINEPA in the project are already prepared to recruit a number of these trainees.

The DINEPA Water and Sanitation Sector Strengthening Program, launched this year, has been a near-success. Its planning and implementation, in this context of a multi-sectoral crisis across the country's four water regions, offer hope.
