The community of Labadee, in Haiti’s North Coast, gathered to celebrate the inauguration of a new soccer field, the result of a collaboration between the Royal Caribbean Group (RCG) and the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF).

In line with RCG’s SEA the Future platform, which focuses on community dynamism and accelerating innovation, this field represents much more than a simple infrastructure investment: it demonstrates a commitment to the local population. It aims to create a space where the community can come together, build trust, and enjoy soccer, while strengthening the bonds that unite them.

By transforming a vacant lot into a place of meaning and potential, this initiative perfectly illustrates what it means to revitalize communities, offering not just a place to play, but a space where social connection, pride, and opportunity can flourish.

The inaugural event brought the field to life with exciting matches between the Labadee and PADF teams, as well as a friendly match between students from L’École Nouvelle Royal Caribbean. From the opening whistle, the atmosphere was electric: children ran all over the field, the stands vibrated with cheers, and the entire community was filled with immense pride.

Designed to be accessible and sustainable, the field will be managed as a community space, ensuring its safety, proper maintenance, and availability for structured use over the long term.

"In a country where challenges are a daily reality, this project is much more than just an initiative. It is a gesture of hope, resilience, and faith in what is possible when people unite with conviction and generosity," said Maryse Pénette-Kedar, Founder and President of the Progress and Development Foundation (Prodev).

These words underscore the project's impact: more opportunities for young people, strengthened community ties, and greater long-term resilience. The next step will focus on training the local population in land management and maintenance, ensuring its sustainable, community-managed use for years to come.
