On Friday, August 28, 2026, Mie-Angèle Layla Vulcain, along with six finalists selected during the audition phase held on August 25, was crowned Young Mayor of Jacmel 2026 at the grand finale of the competition organized by the Jacmel City Hall.

Following the various rounds and the jury's deliberations, Layla Vulcain distinguished herself through the quality of her presentation, her understanding of the issues facing the municipality, her leadership, and her ability to represent the voice of Jacmel's youth.

This initiative by the Jacmel City Hall is part of a broader effort to encourage youth participation in public life, strengthen their civic engagement, and promote youth leadership.

Through this competition, the City Hall also aims to provide young people with a platform for expression, reflection, and representation regarding the challenges and future prospects of the municipality of Jacmel.

The Jacmel City Hall extends its congratulations to Layla Vulcain, the new Young Mayor of Jacmel, as well as to all the finalists and candidates who participated in this initiative.

Layla Vulcain will represent Jacmel in Morocco at the 46th International Congress of the International Association of Francophone Mayors (AIMF), which will be held from December 7 to 10, 2026, in Casablanca, Morocco.
