Great South : CAN strategic mission to Jérémie
Dr. Ricardo Jean Baptiste, Director General of the National Ambulance Center (CAN), is continuing his efforts to strengthen the coordination of its operations, improve the functioning of its departmental bases, and ensure higher quality pre-hospital services throughout the country. On Saturday, August 29, 2026, the delegation from the Directorate General was in Jérémie, in the Grand'Anse department, where it held a working session with the Grand'Anse departmental network. Accompanied by members of his staff and the Director of the Departmental Directorate Coordination Unit (UCDD), Dr. Fabrice Pascal, Director General of the CAN, is continuing a series of field missions aimed at assessing the functioning of departmental structures, listening to the teams, and identifying priority needs. The mission involves overseeing the operation of departmental bases, assessing the condition of ambulances and equipment, identifying logistical and technical needs, and formulating concrete recommendations to improve the quality of pre-hospital care. This mission also aims to engage with contract workers and employees, particularly regarding their administrative status, to contribute to better organization and regularization of personnel. Beyond these aspects, this initiative strengthens communication between the General Directorate, local teams, and partners, in order to optimize the performance, coordination, and responsiveness of the National Emergency Medical Service (CAN) throughout the country. The mission in Grande Anse is part of a national initiative that will continue in other departments. IH/ iciHaiti
