During the meeting, the project coordinator noted that the initiative had been in development since 2019 and subsequently received US$7 million in funding from the World Bank https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-46649-haiti-news-zapping.html through the SREP program. Overall coordination is being provided by the Ministry of Public Works. The project is being carried out by the Dominican international firm ESD Engineering Service S.R.L. The project is currently scheduled to be commissioned in March 2027.

The mission also aimed to strengthen the project's monitoring and information system. Plans include establishing two coordination offices, one at the existing thermal power plant and the other at the future Mon-Fleurit photovoltaic site. These offices will facilitate access to information for institutions, citizens, and other stakeholders.

Securing the site is also among the next steps, with the construction of fences to protect the facilities and the area designated for the solar panels and other equipment.

Finally, the meeting emphasized the need to strengthen the involvement of local stakeholders. A future mission is expected to reconstitute the project's monitoring committee, with increased participation from the Jacmel City Hall.

With a projected capacity of 4 MW and an estimated lifespan of approximately 20 years, this project represents a significant initiative for the development of solar energy production and the strengthening of Jacmel's electrical grid.
