New Municipal Palace to Fond-des-Nègres
The Minister of Interior, Me Thierry Mayard-Paul, works hard to bring public services in all departments and municipalities in the country. In this context, he announced the imminent opening of a municipal palace to Fond-des-Nègres, common of department of Nippes. The decentralization of public services becomes a reality
As part of decentralization advocated by the government of Haiti, Me Thierry Mayard-Paul, the Minister of Interior and Local Authorities announced the opening of three offices of Immigration in Jeremie, Les Cayes and Cap-Haitien. This initiative will allow people in these cities and other neighboring towns to get their passports on the spot.
Visit to UQTR of Secretary of State for Higher Education of Haiti
The University of Quebec to Trois-Rivieres (UQTR) was visited by a Haitian delegation headed by Jean-Claude Francis, Secretary of State for Higher Education. Provide specific support to the sector of higher education by strengthening training and research, especially in the field of science of education, is among the priorities of the Government of Haiti.
It is to answer this priority and at the request of the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP) of Haiti, that an inter-university consortium is being formed to develop a project in science of education. This project aims to develop and implement an action plan to improve the quality of university education and to strengthen institutions of higher education by the national rollout of a program of training of Haitian teaching staff in pre-university education in close collaboration with the local actors of sector. A draft of the project of support to the training of secondary school teachers has been prepared as part of the partnership between the MENFP and academic institutions in the consortium. Critical exchange must continue to initially identify mechanisms to strengthen institutional effort to promote more effective management of the project by the national bodies concerned.
The Treasury provides $11 million U.S. dollars to private schools
The Ministry of Education and Training (MENFP) informs the private schools involved in the Universal Schooling Program, Free and Compulsory (PSUGO) that the checkbooks expected for the financial operations at he level of these schools are available in eight academic departments (Nippes, North East, North, Northwest, Central, South, Southeast and Grand Anse). School officials concerned are advised to contact the Banque Nationale de Credit (BNC) in their area to remove their checkbook. 7.500 non-public schools on more than 8,000, have an account in the BNC, already fueled by a first tranche of 452,280 560.40 gourdes [± 11 million U.S. dollars] disbursed by the State from the funds of Treasury.
