Earlier this week, the President Michel Martelly, accompanied by the Reverend Pastor Ecclésias Donatien , received a cash donation from the faithful of the church "Tabernacle de Louange" of Cap-Haïtien. Thesymbolic amount of 19,604.50 gourdes was submitted to the Head of State to be invested in the reconstruction of the National Palace. The President Martelly took the opportunity to thank the pastor Ecclésias Donatien and donors who have so generously agreed to participate in the reconstruction of the National Palace.
Integration of disabled people
Under the high patronage of the Presidency, the Office of the Secretary of State for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH), the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Haiti (CCIH), in partnership with the Project to strengthen the legal framework for people with disabilities in Haiti of the Organization of American States (OAS), organize Monday, September 10, 2012, at the Hotel Montana, a chat with the Haitian private sector on the Law on Integration of Disabled Persons.
New Peace Court in Verrettes
The judicial authorities of Verrettes and the Minustah have inaugurated the new premises of the Peace Court of the commune of Verrettes n the department of Artibonite. The infrastructure includes, among others, a courtroom that can accommodate twenty people, a reception area, offices of two clerks, of udge Holder and his deputy. The Minustah also provided materials and office equipment, as well as four air conditioners and a generator with a capacity of 32 KW.
The Prime Minister met with the IDB
On Wednesday, the Prime Minister and Minister of Planning, Laurent Lamothe, had a working meeting with Eduardo Almeida, representative of the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) for Haiti, to discuss the possibility of creating an emergency fund that could be used during major natural events.
Demolition of National Palace
The beginning of the demolition work of the National Palace starts this Thursday. Wednesday dozens of employees of the NGO of Sean Penn were busy to evacuate abandoned furniture and a few boxes that still remained in the rubble. Access areas were delineated, tarps covering grids and heavy machinery is visible on site.
Nephtalie Jean Louis eliminated in the first selection
Nephtalie Jean Louis, bib 1201, who attended today the Paralympic Games in London, in the Women's Javelin Throw, category F57/58, alongside 17 other participants, did not win a medal. She has made only 207 points, with a distance of 10.69 meters, her best score for the season, ranking, 17th out of 18. In her first attempt she made 163 points for a distance of 9.98 m, the second 207 points with 10,69 m and the third essay 108 points for a distance of 8.92 meters, she was disqualified from the first selection. The gold medal was awarded to LIU Ming (Republic of China) with 955 points and a distance of 23.48 meters, silver DJELAL Safia (Algeria) with 953 points and 28.87 meters and bronze VOLIK Larisa (Russian Federation) with 906 points and 21.95 meters.
