France pays tribute to Préfète Duffaut
Tribute to Préfète Duffaut, statement of the Ambassador of France "With the disappearance of the great painter Duffaut Préfète, Haiti has lost one of the major figures of the Haitian naive painting. Tireless creator of urban utopias, the child of Jacmel have marked in depth the imaginary Haitian : bright colors, hanging bridges in the empty cities stretched towards the sky... He was also a universal painter, whose the premonitory flashes crossed oceans. The French knew and appreciated this great artist, several major exhibitions have been devoted to him, in Paris, Nice, Strasbourg. [...] All our thoughts are with his family, his relatives, all those who have known him, loved and continue to love his work inspired and shimmer."
