Project to construct a Hilton Garden Inn

Wednesday, a meeting took place between the "Hilton Worldwide" group and Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin around a project to build a "Holiday Inn" hotel next to the Visa Lodge. Hilton Worldwide is a leading global hospitality company with 10 brands, more than 3,900 hotels and 140,000 team members across 90 countries.

Phidélia Bernice Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Washington ?

Phidélia Bernice, the former Minister of Haitians Living Abroad (MHAVE), would have been appointed as Minister Counsellor at the Embassy of Haiti in Washington. Recall that Bernice had resigned on June 11, following allegations of some opposition lawmakers, citing a possible dual citizenship.

Carnival of Flowers 2013 Committee

Wednesday, Josette Darguste, the Minister of Culture have presented the Organizing Committee of the Carnival of Flowers which runs from July 28 to 30. This joint public-private sector committee, whose term will expire on 30 September 2013, is composed of 10 members and enjoys complete autonomy to define its organization and operation. Josette Darguste and Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, respectively President and Vice-Honorary President of the Committee. The Minister of Culture have announced a tax deduction for members or businesses wishing to contribute financially to the Carnival Committee.

Survey on the quality of drinking water

In a statement, the Ministry of Public Health advises owners and managers of water kiosks in the metropolitan area, that is currently conducting a survey on these kiosks, to test the quality of the water that is sold for consumption. The first part of the survey will be conducted from June 27 to July 16, 2013, in the communes of Delmas, Petion-Ville and Tabarre.

The Minustah welcomes the public commitment of the Government to hold elections before the end of 2013 and notes the transmission by the Transitional College of the Permanent Electoral Council of the draft Electoral Law to Executive and invites all players to give Haiti a electoral law of consensus, allowing the establishment of a sovereign electoral system, sustainable and viable so that the text could be adopted as soon as possible.
