iciHaiti - Literature : Free the Words ! Free the Word !

For the past three years, the "Free the Word" festival, hosted by the PEN Haiti Center and supported by the Canada Council for the Arts, is an important event to promote literature and defend freedom of expression.

From July 12 to 19, a delegation of Canadian writers, representing the International Festival of Literature (FIL), will join Haitian writers and journalists to exchange and debate on freedom of expression. These workers of the pen will lead these debates in Port-au-Prince, Petit Goâve, Jacmel, Les Cayes and Gonaives. A delegation of Canadian writers, Carole David, David Homel, Michèle Ouimet, Stanley Péan et Michel Vézina will representiing the International Festival of Literature (FIL), will also be present.

This 4th edition of the festival will pay tribute to the late Haitian journalist Jean Dominique.
