iciHaiti - Social : Development of bus stops for the disabled
Two bus stops adapted for people with reduced mobility, have been built, in Delmas 32 and 33. These bus stops that has space for people in wheelchairs, are a big step in the establishment of an accessible transportation in Haiti and serve as a model in the field.
Meanwhile, two buses of the transportation company Dignité granted by the Ministry of Economy, were modified and made accessible for the disabled.
These achievements were made possible through a collaboration between Handicap International, he Office of the Secretary of State for Integration of Persons with Disabilities (BSEIPH), the Mayor of Petion-ville, the Interministerial Committee for Territorial Development (CIAT), the Haitian Federation of Associations and Institutions Disabilities (FHAIPH), the Association of Owners and Drivers of Haiti (APCH), Service Plus, Dignité, the Association of Disabled in Movement (ASHAMO), the Haitian Society for Aid to the Blind (AAHS), the Mayor of Delmas and the service of Traffic of the National Police of Haiti (PNH).
