iciHaiti - Diaspora : 5 candidates of Haitian origin in Canada's electoral race

In the « Diaspora » section of the new Haitian magazine Challenges, it is stated that five candidates of Haitian origin ran in Canadian federal elections of 19 October.

The only outgoing Haitian deputy, Emmanuel Dubourg, from the Liberal Party of Canada (LPC), faced the candidate of Haitian origin of the New Democratic Party (NDP) Dolmine Laguerre. The two candidates at the top of the list competed in Bourassa, the district which includes North Montreal. It holds one of the largest populations of Haitian origin.

The Bloc Quebecois (BQ) presented Kedina-Fleury in the district of Avignon-Mitis - Matan-Matapedia. She was the favorite in this constituency which has elected the Bloc since 1993 further the establishment of this party. The new party Strength in Democracy presented for its part two Haitians candidates: Dayana Dejean in Honore -Mercier and Louis Clément Sénat in Terrebonne.
