The Engineer Alix Célestin, Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), accompanied by Eric Smarcki Charles, Deputy Director General, in the presence of several Ministers, eminent personalities from the business community, of the National Port Sector, of the associative and political world, executives and employees of the National Port Authority (APN), officially inaugurated the first 150 linear meters of North wharf of International Port of Port-au-Prince, (whose the global project of 410m linear amounts to nearly 80 million US dollars), under construction for several months by the Italian-American firm GLF Construction, under the supervision of the Spanish firm ALATEC.

Moreover, Alix Célestin, announced that the Port will soon be equipped with a third crane, noting that "The first phase of the work is almost complete. The whole work is to be delivered by the GLF firm in the year 2017 ". He recalled that the North wharf construction project has three phases. Over the next two phases, the GLF firm, will build including 260 linear meters of quay. It is also planned as part of this project, to develop a storage area of approximately 1 hectare behind the wharf and dredging the harbor basin and dock positions, up 11.50 meters deep.
