Friday, February 12 in the morning, Patrick Élie (66), former Secretary of State for Public Security and activist for human rights died in a private hospital in Port-au-Prince where he had been hospitalized following a fall for a femoral fracture.

Remember that Patrick Élie, a biochemist of training, was an active militant who fought the Duvalier dictatorship and Jean-Bertrand Aristide in 1991. With his passing, Haiti lost an exceptional man, a man, generous, honest and with a great culture who was never afraid to express his thoughts frankly.
