iciHaiti - Social : 54 Haitians intercepted off the coast of Providenciales

A makeshift wooden boat was detected two miles off the coast of Providenciales by the coastal radar station and intercepted by the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force Marine Branch.

The 27-feet blue and red boat, equipped with a Yamaha engine 40 HP, was carrying 54 Haitian boat people (14 women, 38 men and two boys) in irregular migratory situation was escorted to South Dock port.

The border control service, government and non-government organizations, have helped in the processing of these illegal migrants which were subsequently leads to a detention center, waiting to be repatriated in the coming days in Haiti.
