iciHaiti - Social : Celebration of the International Youth Day 2016

Friday at the Gymnasium Vincent (Romain Street), several hundred young people from Canaan, Cité Soleil, Solino, Croix-des-Bouquets, Martissant, Carrefour Feuilles attended the celebration activities of the International Youth Day, 2016 (JIJ 2016) organized by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action in partnership with the United Nations population Fund (UNFPA)

The young artisans from Lakou lakay Creation, Niou Creation, Araka, Toya Foundation, Zantray Atizan lokal, modern arts workshop and Tamy Art started this day of celebration with an exhibition of crafts and local products. Educational talks planned during the day allowed the technicians of the Ministry to discuss with the youth on topics such as: youth and citizenship; youth and employment,; sexual and reproductive health; sports and economic development and the sustainable development objectives among others.

In her message, Ms. Marielle Sander, the UNFPA Representative in Haiti, reiterated the commitment of the UN agency in the promotion and organization of youth leadership and recognized the central role of this important segment of the population in improving the well-being of their families, their community and their Nation.

In his words of circumstance, Able Nazaire, the Minister of Youth emphasized the government's desire to create a real place for young abandoned and increasingly guided by the will to emigrate to other countries "Tout jèn se jèn ayisyen" stated Minister Nazaire, asking young people to keep this spirit of solidarity that inhabits all of them before wishing them good celebration.
