Wednesday was held in Damien, the 2nd meeting of the Steering Committee on the national seed policy. Were present at this meeting the representatives of international institutions like the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Inter-American Institute for Agriculture (IICA), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO ), the Agency of the United States Development (USAID) and national institutions including the Ministry of Commerce, the FONDRED, the private sector involved in the production and marketing of seeds, entities of the Ministry of Agriculture involved in seed problematic whose the Directorate of Plant Production, the National Seed Service (SNS) and the Transfer Programme of Agricultural Technology to Small Producers (PTTA).

The national seed policy is a clear policy document on the measures to be taken to create a socio-economic environment conducive to private investment in the development of a national seed industry. This is a seed strategy that considers the general conditions of development of the sector, developed in consultation and with the participation of all stakeholders in the sector.
