iciHaiti - Agriculture : Strengthening of the seed sector in Haiti
The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) will participate in a workshop on the seed sector development strategy in Haiti, to be held from November 5 to 6 2015, at the Hotel Montana.

This project involves the establishment of a policy and legal framework that will establish the rules of operation of the production and marketing of seeds nationally.

Ultimately, the project aims to contribute to the improvement of food security of the Haitian people by promoting increased production and agricultural productivity, by supporting the development of the seed sector so that quality seed may play a key role in the sustainable intensification of agricultural production through adapted production systems.

The execution of this project is part of the will of the Haitian Government to strengthen the seed sector in Haiti through the development of a juridical-legal framework and the establishment of coordination and control devices.

This workshop is part of the implementation of the project "Support for the revival of the seed sub-sector in Haiti", funded by the Agricultural Technology Transfer Programme to small producers (PTT) of MARNDR, on the funds allocated by the Inter American Development Bank (IDB), and implemented by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO).
