Haiti - Agriculture : Installation of the Director of the National Seed Service 25/06/2017 10:00:07
It should be noted that the National Seed Service (created in 2002) aims to play a coordinating and supervisory role in the activities of the seed sector. Seed as such (seeds or other parts of the plant such as tubers, cuttings) is a crucial input into the agricultural sector. Following numerous weaknesses in this area, the Ministry launched an operation to strengthen this system, which is vital not only for the Haitian community, but also as part of the government's overall policy. In his remarks on the occasion, the new Director affirmed his desire to improve this service with as mission "[...] to control the quality of seeds and seedlings produced and marketed in the country and to ensure compliance with the legislation and seed regulation through the suppression of fraud with impartiality and neutrality."
