iciHaiti - Education : A first step towards solving the problem of bilingualism
Thursday, a workshop chaired by the Director General, Meniol Jeune, was held at the Project Coordination Unit (UCP) of the Ministry of National Education to present the senior officials of the Ministry, for validation, the document of 33 pages "Haitian repository of skills for French and Creole".

Among the substantive issues discussed : the administration of a questionnaire on the relevance and use of this tool, the evantual adjustments, the conformity of positioning tests with the skills reference system.

For Meniol Jeune, this workshop demonstrates the Ministry's commitment to putting in place tools whose objective is to solve problems, particularly bilingualism in the Haitian education system.

Thomas Poirier, attaché of cooperation and cultural action at the Embassy of France in Haiti, present at this workshop, felt that this step of validation was extremely important insofar as it opens the door to the stage of implementation. application of this document.

In his speech, Cenatus Pierre, the General Goordonnateur of the Education and Quality Pole at the Ministry, drew attention to the fact that this linguistic reference tool, which will mainly help teachers, is a first step in improving the quality of teaching education in the country.

The presentation of this document was provided by Dr. Darline Cothière, Consultant engaged to work on this issue and financed by French cooperation. She said that this document does not pretend to solve all language problems in Haiti, but rather to be a tool that can be used in the context of the continuing education of teachers.
