iciHaiti - Strike : 200 million loss of revenue per day for the State
Monday, March 5, 2018, as announced https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-23715-haiti-news-zapping.html customs officers went on strike across the country, to protest against the non-fulfillment of the commitments of the Moïse-Lafontant government, included in the memorandum of understanding signed in October 2017 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-22349-haiti-politics-customs-officers-accept-a-truce.html relating in particular to a salary increase and a special status of customs officers.

Emmanuel Noisy, a Head of Customs Division in Port-au-Prince recalled in a press conference for the State, that each day of strike resulted in a shortfall of 200 million gourdes, not to mention costs for importers whose mooring bill in the ports, will increase every day...

Customs officials say they are ready to return to work as soon as the special status of some 2,000 customs officers in Haiti is published in the official gazette.
