iciHaiti - Quebec : Michaëlle Jean at the Youth Francophone Parliament of the Americas

The 2nd Edition of the Youth Francophone Parliament of the Americas (PFJA), which ends this Sunday (July 8-15, 2018), was held at Laval University in Quebec City (Canada), under the honorary presidency of Michaëlle Jean, Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF). Engaged Francophone leaders from 20 countries in the Americas are participating in this important meeting focused on citizen participation.

Like the parliamentary exercise, the PFJA offers an enriched program of conferences, round tables and workshops. Speakers include: Christiane Taubira, Clément Duhaime, Line Beauchamp, Florian Sauvageau, Pierre Reid, René Villemure, Nelly Dennene, Jean-Michel Leprince, France Gélina, Greg Selinger, Claudine Blais, Marie Grégoire, Françoise David and Rodrigo Campos.

"This Youth Francophone Parliament of the Americas offers a privileged opportunity for participants to forge and enrich their experience as world citizens on major international issues, such as democracy, the conditions for more security and stability, women's full participation, respect and equality with men, protection of the environment, technological revolution, defense of rights and freedoms. I am pleased to take part in this meeting which is an opportunity for these committed leaders of the Francophonie to be heard and to have a look at the major issues of our society," said Michaëlle Jean.

In his speech, Denis Desgagné, President and CEO of the Center de la Francophonie of the Americas speaking of Ms. Jean said "The support and mobilization of young people in the action of the citizens are among the priority axes of his mandate at the head of the Francophonie. Michaëlle Jean embodies an undeniable leadership within the Francophonie [...]"
