The Archbishop of Santiago, Freddy Antonio de Jesús Bretón Martínez has asked the Government of the Dominican Republic to adopt policies allowing rigorous control of immigration, with measures to make the border with Haiti safer.
The Catholic Prelate said that the authorities had a duty to adopt a series of measures aimed at regulating the flow of foreigners into Dominican territory and warned against the many interests that affect the problem of immigration while calling for the authorities to find a solution to the problems of Haiti.
