iciHaiti - Security : Departure of police officers from India, after 11 years of support to the PNH 26/07/2019 08:56:22
On 21 July, 126 officers of the Indian Constituted Police Unit (UPC) of the United Nations Mission for the Support of Justice in Haiti (Minujusth) left Haiti permanently following the closure of Indian contingent in Haiti. The remaining 14 Indian officers will leave Haiti on August 3, ending 11 years of continuous presence of Indian police on Haitian territory in support of the National Police of Haiti (PNH). The departure of these officers, is part of the gradual withdrawal of the last 4 UPC of the Minujusth by 15 October 2019, date set by the UN Security Council for the planned closure of the Mission, ending 15 years of United Nations peacekeeping operations in Haiti https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-28089-haiti-un-in-october-no-more-peacekeeping-armed-force-in-haiti.html The Rwandan, Jordanian and Senegalese contingents will be the last 3 UPC to leave the territory.
