iciHaiti - Petit-Goâve : The RN #2 blocked by a demonstration against the Blackout

Friday around 8:00 pm, a spontaneous protest against the Blackout in Petit-Goâve, claimed by the movement "Defenders of the Left Behind" (DELCO) has blocked the National Road #2 at the level of Seradòt Market of Petit-Goâve. Barricades and burning tires were erected on the road forcing vehicles to use downtown streets.

In the midst of near total darkness, due to the lack of electricity for more than 15 days, stone throwing has been launched and sporadic gunshots have been fired in near the National Road.

Yves Boussicot, the coordinator of "DELCO", on Radio Préférence F.M., criticized the local authorities and claimed the blocking of the public road.

While acknowledging the merits of calling for the end of the blackout, several citizens disapproved of the organization of this event at dusk and called for the immediate release of RN#2. The notables pointed out that for security reasons, the demonstrations should take place during the day.

Friday at 10:00 pm, traffic was still paralyzed.
